CEO Grant Fenn - A bright future

Downer has faced real issues over the past couple of years that led to a loss in confidence of the company.  This was mainly due to extra provisions for the Waratah Train Project - other post to follow re: this issue in more depth.

The employment of a new CEO, Grant Fenn and following, a new structure within the executive team saw a turn around for Downer.  Fenn is a Chartered Accountant with an impressive career including a long stay at Qantas which he credits as being highly valuable to his skill base.

Fenn implemented changes to see the company grow through the underlying business as opposed to its increasing growth, previously through acquisition.  Other changes included a clear and defined direction and better oversight and relationships with suppliers.

Risk management and staff retention are all key focuses for the future although predictions are that the company will continue to grow.

This interview with CEO, Grant Fenn, highlights the changes made to make the company credible once again and get back to basic business, minus the grandiose statements.
